Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know
about the app

What is ScoreBuddy?

ScoreBuddy was created with the vision to give a pro level experience to the average player. Pickleball is a rare sport where you can go from no experience to becoming a pro player in less than a year.

These pro players grow so fast because of their access to game footage, and coaching to help them improve their game.

How does it work?

Set up your Phone on a tripod or fence mount, and start playing! ScoreBuddy uses computer vision to track the movement of the ball and players to keep track of the stats, and create game highlights.

How do you play pickleball?

Pickleball uses rally scoring which means points are scored only on the serve, and the receiving side cannot score a point. The first server continues to serve until the serving team loses a rally by committing a fault which then passes the serve to the second server on the team. When the second server loses the serve it goes over to the other team and the player on the right serves first.

The score should be called as three numbers. The server score, receiver score, then, for doubles only, the server number: 1 or 2.

ScoreBuddy takes care of all of this for you by announcing the score and name of the person serving to remove the all the confusion when keeping track of the score.

Why is scorekeeping hard for pickleball

Rally scoring can be challenging for some players because of how many different moving parts there are. The great thing about rally scorekeeping is that it makes games much more exciting because it allows for teams to come back from being down in a game. At any point in the game the momentum can shift giving the underdog team the chance to win the game.
